You've Been Googled

LAST UPDATED: 13 JUN 07 22:52

One of the things which I like about blogging is looking at my visitor stats (how lame am I?!) They amuse me, I particularly like the fact it tells you what people searched for before coming to the blog.

There have been some funny ones since I started, but the most recent slightly confused me;
"medical students fuck" - that person must have been looking for a really niche fetish! Worryingly, my blog is returned as the top result!

Other examples include:
"little medic" - someone in Germany seems to be quite obsessed unless they were genuinely looking for really little medics!
"cope with osce exam nerves" - anyone who is looking for help with OSCE nerves should probably stay well away from my blog!
"queue theory anatomic pathology turn around time" - what the fuck?
"sscs in obs and gynae" - people actually come here for medical type stuff?! (who would have thought it)

The internet is a strange, strange place.

UPDATE:
One from this morning which made me giggle "Hospital excuses to get out of school test"

UPDATE 2:
The most recent, and perhaps most worrying google: "fetish gynae medical pictures" - Again, worryingly my site is the top result!!

The site meter thingy....? Yeah I do that too............ :-) It's fun. I track my friends and then I freak them out like "Were you on my blog last afternoon at around five-ish?"... It was really cool when they didn't know about it but I eventually told them and now they just know how I know and I can't creep them up any more :-(

Ha! I don't use sitemeter, perhaps I should change to it for light amusement!

On a related topic, I've taken to googling myself (my name as it appears in my email address) daily to see whether my papers have been published yet. Vanity...

ms-ellisa - yeah, the sitemeter thing, and I do that too. Although it can be a double edged sword as I keep seeing people from my uni and it freaks me out.

hospitalphoenix - its definitely worth switching, its amusing.

As for googling myself unfortunately there are 260,000,000 results so I'm not sure that'll be useful in the future unfortunately. If you know what to google my mobile phone number can be found though

Yeah it's creepy because I think I have a stalker and I can see when my blog is entered and it frightens me....!

I didn't know you could do that checking thing ... feel a bit stupid ... bit worried now ...

Little Medic, you're just asking for trouble aren't you!?

The Little Medic said...

anon - How so?

Anonymous said...

At a guess, encouraging people to search for your mobile number?

The Little Medic said...

anon 10:56 - perhaps, but it'd be next to impossible to find. That didn't spring to my mind as to what the other anon was talking about but maybe you're right,

I've got sitemeter but how do you see who has looked at the blog? i can only see numbers...

The Little Medic said...

dr joey - if you're logged in and you click the sidebar:

"By Details
By Referrals
By World Map
By Location"

You can view all sorts of details about your visitors.

Really, it's not impossible to find. A couple of quick googles reveals your hotmail address (name1name2surname@hotmail.com) and a google of that shows up your phone number and address.

Be careful

Be very careful

The Little Medic said...

anon - Are you sure about that? As far as I can see its not even on google anymore

The Little Medic said...

anon - also, what should I be careful about since a) I don't live at my address anymore, ever, and b) I've been stalked a lot worse in the past by fucktards.

Oh that's so funny - I've got an entry about this in the making too! Have had it saved to drafts for quite some time now, just need to hit publish!
